This minor will prepare you for work and life in a modern and interconnected world. It will help you develop a critical perspective on the social, 政治, 经济, 文学, 心理, 艺术, 哲学, and cultural processes associated with globalization and the impacts of global media.

The interdisciplinary approach of the minor, taken from the full range of the humanities and social sciences, 允许你, regardless of your major, to enhance your education with a global perspective.

The interdisciplinary Irish studies minor will help you move beyond clichés to learn about Irish culture, 文学, and history and to examine current issues relating to the Irish and Irish-American experience.

You will take at least one Irish 语言 course, and you may be able to earn academic credit toward this minor by studying abroad in Ireland.

中东研究

The 中东研究 minor offers you a background in the history, 语言, politics and culture of the Middle East. You will study the philosophy and religion of the Islamic world, and you can choose to take courses in modern standard Arabic or Middle Eastern 文学 translated into English.

西班牙语

A minor in 西班牙语 will increase your understanding of 西班牙语-speaking peoples through the study of their 语言, 文学s and cultures. Through your coursework, which could include an optional study abroad experience, you will become competent in the linguistic and grammatical aspects of speaking, 写作, 听, and reading 西班牙语. You will develop cultural intelligence tools and be equipped to be a catalyst for justice and peace through cross-cultural communication.

• 西班牙语 for Criminal Justice Minor
  If you are majoring in criminology, this minor will acquaint you with the use of 西班牙语 in the realm of the criminal justice profession. You may choose to p艺术icipate in an intensive 西班牙语 program held in Mexico every summer, which will allow you to specialize in field-specific vocabulary and idioms related to criminology. You will study 西班牙语 语法 and grammar along with Hispanic cultures, including the history, 艺术, and 文学 of Latinos in the U.S., and Latino p艺术icipation in politics and civic life.
• 西班牙语 for Medical Professions Minor
  With the increasing population of 西班牙语 speakers in the U.S., you will stand out in your health care career if you are proficient in the specialized terminology and idiomatic expressions of 西班牙语 in your field. This minor will help you practice communicating and understanding medical information in 西班牙语. You can choose to study abroad in Mexico for a summer intensive that will familiarize you with the 语言 in the context of the medical professions.

You may p艺术icipate in an optional summer intensive program in Mexico, where you will practice your 语言 skills tailored to the teaching professions.
